sustainable operations
With more than 1,100 stores and over 50,000 associates across the country, our sustainable initiatives generate significant benefits for the environment and a positive economic impact on our business. We pass those savings on to our customers, allowing us to offer them brand name merchandise at a great value.
This longstanding commitment to use less energy and fewer natural resources in our day-to-day operations goes back more than 20 years. We continue to pilot new innovations which allow us to reduce our environmental footprint year after year.

Environmentally Friendly Product Transportation
While we do not operate our own fleet of trucks, we do work with transportation partners who share our commitment for sustainability. We also consolidate shipments where possible, reducing the number of trips to stores each day and decreasing fuel consumption. Read more about our product transportation practices.
Using Less and Reducing Waste
Every day, our associates apply a wide range of practices that reduce our use of natural resources, increase recycling and reduce waste. One of our largest initiatives is a cardboard recycling program, which results in less material used in transporting merchandise to our stores ending up in landfills. Small-scale initiatives include an emphasis on printing only when we must, using recycled paper and printing double-sided. Read more about how we’re using less and reducing waste.
