The Stuart Moldaw Scholarship
The Stuart Moldaw Scholarship Program was created in 2009 to honor the life of Stuart Moldaw — Ross founder and Chairman Emeritus — for his lifelong commitment to education. A leader and tireless advocate for many community efforts, Stuart's legacy lives on through this program, providing Ross and dd's DISCOUNTS associates and their children tuition assistance for college and vocational schools.
Recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, and financial need. Since the launch, 60 students have received scholarships.
Lenny, whose mother has worked as a Ross store associate in Boca Raton, Florida for over 11 years, is a focused and driven student. Yet the cost of college threatened to hold him back. As a result of being awarded the Stuart Moldaw Scholarship in 2009, Lenny was able to continue attending the University of Miami throughout his senior year. The option to reapply for the scholarship was a key motivator, and Lenny excelled in his studies so much that he earned the opportunity to attend Stanford University to pursue a master’s degree, again with assistance from the Stuart Moldaw Scholarship. While at Stanford, Lenny did an internship at Ross, providing valuable experience which helped him land a position in the financial industry when he graduated.
